Jesus is everywhere! |
I am apart of the 2013-2014 PhotogenX track, with University of the Nations. Track is
an 18+ month program marrying a series of training courses and outreaches which
take place around the world. Over the next year and a half we will be focusing on photography, photojournalism, writing, video, storytelling, and other media aspects, as well as cover topics like worldview, biblical studies, leadership etc. We also will be doing numerous outreaches mix in throughout the year. The point of track is really to know
God and know yourself more, use photography and media to expose injustice and empower lives, see
the face of God in the faces of the world, explore
cultures and communities, connect
with ministries around the globe, study the bible hardcore and to thrive as a leader. I get to travel to every continent, which is super crazy and cool. Some of the countries that I will be travelling to are Argentina, (obvi because i am currently writing this in Argentina lol) Peru, Thailand, Indonesia, Jordan, Greece (freaking yeah), Egypt( hopefully, so please pray that I get to see the pyramids), SOUTH AFRICA( mmmhhm God is real), Hawaii, the UK and some others. so yeah...I'm pretty pumped!
DTS Student just loving a little boy! |
I am apart of a lovely little team, six students (Kassy, Dave, David, Rachel, Sarah and myself) and two staff (Andrew and Anita) . And they are all super cool and fun. I am really looking forward to spending a year and half with them and getting to experience the greatest things avec( with...thats french, dang I am so international lol) them.
So yeah, theres a fun little overview of my life....but anyways...life in Argentina has been fabulous so far. The first subject that we are covering here is photography. Before track, I could take some pretty awesome pictures but I was still an amateur for sho! Even tho I am still far from professional, in the past two weeks of classes I have learned so much and can already see a difference in my pictures. which is amazingly cool hahhah. (oh and for the record I scored more than perfect on my first quiz..got to love bonus questions lol) So, we get cool little theme assignments(i.e. "joy") and then we get to go out in the community and capture moments and make new friends. We also get to go on field trips around the city. Last week we went to a day camp, where a DTS was working, and we got to hang out with the kids and take some pictures. Last friday we went into the heart of the city and visited the National Pray Centre (which is run by YWAM) and then got to explore the city a bit. (I got to go to Starbucks!) This week we will be going to a train station to capture a protest that is going to be happening. so cool eh? So yeah...Its pretty fun and I am really enjoying myself!
Cute little man I met on the streets of Argentina! |
I am having so much fun here, but what is even better is that I know that this is where God wants me to be. I am super pumped for this next year, I cant wait to see where God is going to take me. hahah!
